At the Artsfest

I had a good time at the Artsfest today. I talked to a lot of really nice people and sold a lot of comics. Across the aisle from me was my good friend Paul Bozzo, a really great artist. I spent my down time trying to sketch him.

Judging from these photos below that my wife took, it was my son Nathan that had the most fun!

YeeHaw! I feel so cool now that you've cartonized me! That was a fun show. Thanks for filling my head with lots of new ideas. I will soon start using most of them. (Maybe even all of them!)

Hi there! I bought two of your comics at the Artsfest. Thanks for signing them, and it was nice to meet you!

I really liked reading them and finished them both in one night. I especially loved the Mystic Yak, I hope we see more of him!

I thought it was interesting how you wrote about using challenges for coming up with ideas. That is how I make a great deal of my own art. I create and collect Artist trading cards (cards that are 2.5x2.5 inches, like a baseball card) and trade them with folks all over the world. I see you're an art teacher as well, it might be an interesting concept to introduce to your students (unless you know about them already of course..) I have an Art teacher buddy in FLA who does this with his students and they 'trade' with other classrooms around the world.

But anyhow, I join themed 'swaps' and I find these swaps are great sources of ideas, and if I really like an ATC, I can use that idea for a larger work.

Thanks for a great read with great art; it's a challenge to mate art and words and your results are very enjoyable.

ArtPfunk,

Thanks for the kind words about my comic. IThere will definitely be more Mystic Yak.

Coincidentally, I was just looking at art card materials online and was thinking ti would be fun to try. It is actually a very good idea for something to do with students. IThanks for the suggestion. I look forward to learning more about it. I bet they will love trading with friends.

I looked at the artwork on your site and it looks really neat. I like all the different themes.
