Happy Birthday Fatman!
I made this drawing to commemorate the first birthday of our local comic shop in Athens, PA -- Fatman Comics! Their mascot is an unlikely hero named Fatman. This drawing is a parody of a recent DC ad, with Fatman plopped down in the middle having a piece of birthday cake.

The First Graphic Organizer
You hear a lot about graphic organizers these days. A graphic organizer is a visual and graphic display that depicts the
relationships between facts, terms, and or ideas within a learning task. They are nothing new to art teachers, but they are being used more and more in other subjects.
Using graphics to teach is nothing new really. I was with a group of art teachers yesterday and someone asked, "What do you suppose was the first graphic organizer?" Here is my answer!
For the background, I swiped a portion of acave painting from the caves of Chauvet. I want to cite my sources. However, I'm fairly certain the copyright has run out on that. After 30,000 years, I'm pretty sure it's in the public domain!
You might call this a scene from a Learning Focused Cave, or perhaps, Common Cro-magnon?
