Matisse: Life Painting
We don't often hear about Matisse's humorous side, but he loved to tell entertaining stories -- often imitating the key players. He drew self-deprecating cartoon-like sketches of himself in his letters that he wrote to friends and family. This is a story I read in Spurling's bio The Unknown Matisse, which I highly recommend.

Hmm...Does this mean you purposely draw at least one character who looks like you in each of your comics? I've been meaning to ask that for awhile :-)
Another awesome art story! I love your recreations of the paintings, too. Good luck this weekend with the book launch.
