Comic Re-covered: Batman's New Look

Sketchbook drawing. This is a "re-do" where I take an existing comic cover and redraw it in my own style. I colored this on the computer, which I never do!

James Warhola Visit

Our school recently had a visit from author/illustrator James Warhola. Here we are posing by a sculpture created by fifth graders of his uncle, Andy Warhol.

After his slide show and reading, it was a real treat to see a lot of his original art up close. He brought finished illustrations, sketches and "dummies" (prototypes of books before the finished art is begun).
You can read more about this fantastic day at my teacher blog.

My dissertation is taking over my brain

sketch (skech)n.
1. A hasty or undetailed drawing or painting often made as a preliminary study.
2. A brief general account or presentation; an outline.

This sketch is called, "My Dissertation is Taking Over my Brain." The farther you go in the process, the less your brain allows itself to be used for other functions.

High Maintenance Machine

Matthew Reidsrow is a very talented cartoonist who self publishes High Maintenance Machine, a really great comic. We recently traded comics with each other by mail. He was kind enough to sketch the Mighty Andar and the Mystic Yak in his own style. This made my day!
